You've got to do much more than talk the talk when it comes to being a Christian. And, believe it or not:

ReplyDeleteYou do need to do more than "talk the talk," but you do not need to be "bad" to go to heaven. What every person must realize is that to go to heaven, you must realize and understand that you are a sinner, just as every person on earth is.
"If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us." -1John 1:8 "As it is written, there is none righteous, no, not one." -Romans 3:10 (Every man woman and child has sinned).
You do not need to do good works or repent to go to heaven, although your salvation is shown to other people by works (you show you are bearing fruit), and God does want you to repent, (After you are "saved" there is a spiritual "rebirth" if you will. After the Holy Ghost comes into you, there will be a change, and you should want to repent of your sins, and try). People really should see that you are different than other people when they look at you. We are supposed to show people by our works, faith, and attitude that we have God in us.
The one and only way to get to heaven is through Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior.
"Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the father but by me." -John 14:6
"That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. -Romans 1:9-10
The one and only thing you must do to go to heaven is confess that 1)Jesus is the Christ (the Son of God), 2) Jesus died and became your sins to cleanse you from your sins, 3) Jesus Christ was resurrected on the third day after his death, 4)You are a sinner and need Christ's help to get to heaven. This is the only thing you must do to get to heaven. Believe these things with your whole heart, and ask Jesus to come into your heart.

Just to reiterate, you do not need to be bad to go to heaven, but realize that you are a sinner and cannot get to heaven without God's help.
