Salvation: Our Gateway to Heaven

Let me ask you a question: when you die, where will your soul go? Heaven? Hell? Nowhere? Not sure? I know where my soul will go when I die. Wouldn't you like to be absolutely 100% sure where yours will go? If you could get into heaven when you die, wouldn't you do whatever it takes to be sure that that is where your soul is going? If the answer is yes, then read on, and if the answer is no, then take a look anyway... you might be surprised at how easy it is to gain entrance to heaven.

First I'd like to start by addressing those of you who doubt the existence of Jesus at all. If you are one of these people, click here and read the short article and then come back to this page.

Ok, on to business then:

1) Have you sinned? Don't think so? Ever told a lie, even a little white lie? Ever stolen something, even just a penny? Have you ever known it was right to do something, and then not done it?

The Bible says:

  • "If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us." -1John 1:8 "As it is written, there is none righteous, no, not one." -Romans 3:10 (Every man woman and child has sinned).
  • "For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God." -Romans 3:23 (You may be a good person, but even sinning just once (which we all have) we still fall short of the Glory of God, because God is without sin).
  • "Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned." -Romans 5:12 (We are all descendent's of Adam and Eve, and because Adam and Eve sinned, we are then born into sin because it is passed on to us, so even if you've never lied cheated or stolen, you are still guilty of sin).
  • "For whosoever shall keep the whole law, and yet offend in one point, he is guilty of all." -James 2:10 (Even if you only tell a white lie once in your life and otherwise never sin, the Bible says that if you are guilty of one sin, you are guilty of all sins... for example, if you are guilty of lying, you are also guilty of murder; if you are guilty of cheating on a test in school, you are guilty of adultery and thievery also).

Now, we know that God isn't going to let sin into heaven... and now that we've established that every single person on earth has sinned, this isn't looking so good for you and me to get in
to heaven is it? But luckily for us, there's good news. Keep reading.

2) We still have hope:

The Bible says:

  • "For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord." -Romans 6:23
  • "And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death. And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire." -Revelation 20:14-15 (The book of Revelations was written about future events (events that still have not happened yet. In
  • "For whosoever shall call upon the name of the lord shall be saved." -Romans 10:13 (To be saved, we need to call on Jesus for help).
  • "But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us." - Romans 5:8 (Jesus was free of sin, because he is God, and because he came down to us in human form, free of sin and died for sins that he did not commit, he paid for all of our sins so that we don't have to).
  • "Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the father but by me." -John 14:6 (No man woman or child gets into heaven without Jesus' help because we fall short of the glory of God, but Jesus doesn't).
  • "That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. -Romans 1-:9-10 (How do you ask for Jesus' help? Confess that he died on the cross for you, and was raised from the dead and went to heaven because he is God, and is the Son of God (the Christ), and confess to Him that you are a sinner (every person on earth is) and need Jesus' help to get to heaven).
  • "Whosoever denieth the Son, the same hath not the Father; but he that acknowledgeth the Son hath the father also." - 1John 2:23 (If you deny that Jesus is God's Son, God will deny you entrance to heaven and eternal salvation).
  • "Who is a liar but he that denieth that Jesus is the Christ? He is antichrist, that denieth the Father and the Son." -1John 2:22
  • "If any man sin, we have an advocate with the father, Jesus Christ the righteous; and he is the propitiation for our sins; and not for ours only, but also for the sins of the whole world." -1John 2:1-2 (Jesus died for the sins of the whole world... all we need to do to obtain that salvation that he offers us is to ask for it by believing in him and confessing that he is God and we need his help to get into Heaven).
  • "If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness." -1John 1:9 (God is a forgiving and just God. He wants us to be in heaven with him, and has given us a way to get there by sending his Son Jesus Christ to die for us. All you need to do is confess that you are a sinner and that you need Jesus' help to get into heaven).

3) Eternal Salvation... some people say you can lose your salvation once you gain it by sinning again... God doesn't expect you to lead a perfect life. His salvation is eternal:

The Bible says:

  • "For it is impossible for those who were once enlightened, and have tasted of the heavenly gift, and were made partakers of the Holy Ghost, and have tasted the good word of God, and the powers of the world to come, if they shall fall away, to renew them again unto repentance, seeing they crucify to themselves the Son of God afresh, and put him to an open shame." -Hebrews 6:4-6 (Jesus died once for our sins... not over and over and over again, meaning that once is good enough for eternity. You can't lose your salvation because if you did and then got saved again, it would mean Jesus would have to die again on the cross for you).
  • "And this is the promise that he hath promised us, even eternal life." 1John 2:25 (Eternal means forever).
  • "And this is the record that God hath given to us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. He that hath the Son hath life; and he that hath not the Son of God hath not life." -1John 5:11-12 (Once again, eternal life. If you accept Jesus as your savior you will have that eternal life with God, and if you don't accept him, than you will not have that eternal life).

4) Does this salvation give us a license to sin?

The Bible says:

  • "For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil. Whosoever is born of God doth not commit sin; for his seed remaineth in him; and he cannot sin, because he is born of God." -1John3:8-9 (Some people say that because after you accept Jesus as your savior your soul no longer sins that you then have a "license" to sin, meaning that because you can't lose your salvation by sinning you can do whatever you want... murder, lie, cheat, steal, commit adultery... true, even murderers, liars, cheaters, and adulterers can get into heaven, but this does not mean that after you are saved you should go burn the town down... When we get to heaven God is going to have rewards for us based on the type of life we lead. Also, after we are saved, there is a change that takes place within us... we should want to do things to please God, not disappoint him. Now that's not to say that God expects you to lead a perfect life... he doesn't. But when you are saved, there is a spiritual "rebirth" if you will... it separates our soul from our body, so that while our flesh may still continue to sin, our soul does not. When you are saved God sends the Holy Ghost into your soul... and if you have a piece of God in you, you can't help but want to do things differently than you would without the Holy Ghost).

Getting Saved
:

So now that we've established that we are all sinners, we all need the help of Jesus Christ to gain entrance into heaven, and that once we are "saved" by accepting the salvation Jesus offers, our salvation is eternal, you might be saying to yourself, "I don't know how to accept Jesus as my savior or how to confess my sins." Have no fear. If you are ready today to accept Jesus Christ as your savior, then pray with me by following the prayer below:

"Jesus, I know that I'm a sinner and that I need your help to save my soul. I know that you are the Son of God, and I want to thank you for dying on the cross for me so that I don't have to pay for my sins, and so that I can have eternal life through you. Please come into my heart Lord and save me. Please forgive me for my sins and help me to repent and be a better person for you. I love you Lord and thank you for your sacrifice. In your name Lord, amen."

  1. We must repent of our sins and call upon the Lord Jesus for forgiveness and salvation.

All Bible references made are from the King James Version.

9 That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.

10 For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.

11 For the scripture saith, Whosoever believeth on him shall not be ashamed.

12 For there is no difference between the Jew and the Greek: for the same Lord over all is rich unto all that call upon him.

13 For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved. Romans 10:9-13

When we are convicted of our sins by the Holy Spirit, repent, and believing with all our hearts call upon our crucified, buried, and risen Lord for forgiveness through His propitiatory sacrifice, we receive Him as our Savior.

10 He was in the world, and the world was made by him, and the world knew him not.

11 He came unto his own, and his own received him not.

12 But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name:

13 Which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God. John 1:10-13

Salvation is the Work of God manifested by grace alone through faith alone in Christ alone.

8 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:

9 Not of works, lest any man should boast. Ephesians 2:8-9

  2. Thank you Dr. Roger H. Brarda for your comment.

You must indeed call upon our Lord Jesus Christ for Salvation and you should repent of your sins after you have done so, as indicated in our article Salvation: Our Gateway to Heaven.

I will call to your attention that Salvation is indeed by grace and faith, not by works. While God does want us to fully repent of all of our sins past, present and future, His salvation is not contingent on this, but is based on our belief that Jesus Christ: 1) Is the Son of God, 2)Became and died for our sins, 3)Rose from the dead after three days, 4)is the only way for us to get to heaven. As stated in the above article, you must confess these things to Jesus, believe in Him, and pray to ask him into your heart, and this is the only thing you must do to receive the eternal salvation that He offers us. His salvation is a free gift, meaning all we must do is accept it, not work for it.

Again, God does want us to repent for our sins, but we can not work our way into heaven by doing this. God knows we are sinners, and our flesh will continue to sin even after our souls are saved, whether we try to repent or not, because by nature all human beings are sinners, as we have inherited sin from our common ancestors Adam and Eve.

    Romans 1:9-10 says it all:
"That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. -Romans 1:9-10

Confess and believe Jesus, and confess that you are a sinner and need His help to get into heaven, and you will obtain salvation through Christ's grace. There is no way to obtain salvation through your own works, though your comment to our article seems to say that you can indeed receive salvation by works.

Read what Paul says in Romans 7:14-21 about sinning and repenting:
"For we know that the law is spiritual: but I am carnal, sold under sin. For that which I do I allow not: for what I would, that do I not; but what I hate, that do I. If then I do that which I would not, I consent unto the law that it is good. Now then it is no more I that do it, but sin that dwelleth in me. For I know that in me (that is, in my flesh,) dwelleth no good thing: for to will is present with me; but how to perform that which is good I find not. For the good that I would I do not: but the evil which I would not, that I do. Now if I do that I would not, it is no more I that do it, but sin that dwelleth in me. I find then a law, that, when I would do good, evil is present with me." Romans 7:14-21

You see, even though we would try to do good things, evil (sin) still dwells in us in our flesh. Even repenting (trying to turn away from your sins) sin and evil still dwell within you. The only way to get into heaven then, as stated above is by Jesus, not by repenting.

Can you remember every sin you have ever committed in your entire life? Nobody can. To repent fully of all of your sins, you must turn away from each and every one of those sins and ask God for forgiveness of all of them. The only way to get into heaven is to ask Jesus for His help, and acknowledge what he has done for us. Let him know you are a sinner and need his help alone to cleanse you of your sins.

We're not entirely sure what your comment is meant to portray that is not already indicated in the above mentioned article, but we do thank you for your time in leaving us a comment.

  6. How can you live with all that guiltiness on your shoulders and then solve your family's problems too??
CHILDREN!!! You aren't guilty of anything, be happy, enjoy your lifes, take care of the ones at your side with ethics. These old men talking about Jesus just want to make dirty things with you. DONT LET THEM!!
    Be free!!
Jesus (love) is everywhere and doesn't blame us.

  7. Dear Anonymous,

There is no guilt and no reason to feel guilty. The Bible says we are sinners by nature. God does not expect us to feel guilty. What he does want us to feel is love for Him. He want us to be with us in heaven, which is why we must accept his Son as stated in the above article. God doesn't expect us to be perfect because we can't be. God wants us to enjoy our lives, but also to not be sinners and break his laws.

I must ask (no offense intended) but have you ever read the Bible. You would see that everything in it is relevant today, regardless of if "Old men" wrote it. And please explain what you meant when you said they want to "make dirty things with you." If you mean what I think you mean, that just isn't true and there is no evidence in History, or in the Bible of it.

    Thanks for your comment.

  8. After all these verses and comments you still haven't established that salvation is a gateway to heaven. There is no scripture that states that Jesus Christ died for our salvation or that salvation is in anyway connected to our going to heaven.

  9. To Anonymous: Did you even read any of the scriptures in the article? First lets start with this: "For whosoever shall call upon the name of the lord shall be saved." -Romans 10:13

Now why would God feel it necessary to be saved? What is there to be saved from? Hell. Where is the opposite of hell after you die? Heaven. You are being saved from Hell. If there was no need to be saved from Hell and go to heaven, the Bible wouldn’t talk at all about being saved. There are many scriptures that I didn’t put in the article that also point to this.

Let’s look at another one: "And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death. And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire.” -Revelation 20:14-15

Here’s another one about being cast into the lake of fire. There are scriptures that say when you are saved, your name goes into the book of life, therefore saving you from the lake of fire.

    One more scripture then:
"For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord." -Romans 6:23

Eternal life THROUGH Jesus Christ. If you’re a sinner, you get cast into the lake of fire (second death). If you accept God’s gift, you get eternal life THROUGH Jesus Christ.

You also have to look at other scriptures that say to be absent of the body is to be present with the Lord. The Lord lives in Heaven. And scriptures clearly state that the way to be saved from hell is to accept Jesus and be washed of your sins. God won’t allow sin into Heaven, so you have to be cleansed first.

    To Stephan:

The recycled answers come straight from the Bible. When the answers are right and people ignore them, it’s a good idea to restate them since they come straight from the Word of God. No need to add anything to them or take anything away from them.

  13. Salvation truly is the gift of God through faith alone in Jesus Christ. Unfortunately, many seek to please God with their own works of righteousness in the flesh through natural wisdom and understanding. Few truly realize the bible is spiritual with hidden, spiritual wisdom contained therein. Here is a great bible study website that opens up the scripture spiritually.

  14. Amen!!
But i find its hard sometimes
to remember the joy of salvation,
i guess i have to pray for it.
Lots of days, we just live out our lives our own ways, forgetting the true meaning of why we are living.
I pray that God may pour out his lavishing love and joy upon his people : )

and ps, may i borrow this article for my blog?
