When I was in high school and looking at colleges, I was unsaved, so I never even considered going to a Christian college or university. It wasn't until after I got saved in college that I thought I might like to go to a Christian Bible College. I started looking into online bible college sites and searching for lists of Christian universities. In the end I stayed at the public college I was at because I was married and had a child and we decided that it would be too difficult to move to go to another school. I wanted to share the list of Bible colleges I did find with you here though. Each one will have a link to their main page. This is in no way a comprehensive list of Bible colleges, but it's something to get you started if you're considering going back to school or transferring to a Christian school.
Top Online Christian Universities
1) Liberty University Online - This university boasts 90,000 online students worldwide and over 160 online degrees all the way up to Doctorate.
2) California Baptist University Online - CBU has been rated as having one of the best Online Bachelor's programs by U.S. News and is also rated one of the best West Regional Universities by U.S. News. With a large variety of online degrees, CBU is worth a look.
3) Regent University Online - Regent was ranked top ten by U.S. News for online bachelor's degree programs in 2013, and offers a variety of undergraduate and graduate degrees, including degrees you're not likely to find at other schools.
4) Dallas Baptist University - DBU has 58 full online programs and boasts an impressive 92% course completion rate by students.
5) Grand Canyon University Online - Grand Canyon University has 100 online degrees to choose from and differs from other online colleges in that students take one course at a time, though they boast a fast completion time.
6) Colorado Christian University - CCU offers everything from Certificates and Associates to Masters Degrees. CCU is an accredited college and courses run from 5-10 weeks long.
Top Brick and Mortar Colleges
1) Corbin College (Oregon) - While Corbin does have online degrees, and online ministry programs, it's known for it's bible based learning. Once upon a time I had been accepted to Corbin and I can say from experience that the admissions counselors are very friendly and helpful, and were able to give me all the information I needed to know about transferring credits and helping me figure out financial aid. I've known many people who have gone through Corbin for their degree, and they loved it. U.S. News Best Colleges has ranked Corbin in the top ten for eleven years running.
2) College Of The Ozarks (Hard Work U) (Missouri) - Here's something to think about. College of the Ozarks is free. You don't take out student loans, you don't go into debt. Instead, you work on campus for your education while you're there. Other colleges have something called 'work study' where you do something similar, but students at these other colleges still come out in debt in the end. College of the Ozarks (also known as Hard Work U), has been rated by U.S. News as the #1 College with students with the least debt in the Midwest. If you're considering this college, be sure to check it out and apply well in advance, because U.S. News also rates it as the #1 college with the lowest acceptance rate in the midwest... they have a long waiting list to get in since school is free. It's also been rated by U.S. News as the #10 Best Regional College in the Midwest.
3) Wheaton College (Illinois) - Wheaton is a Christian liberal arts school ranked #57 by U.S. News. It has a 68% acceptance rate and a huge variety of liberal arts and bible degrees. This college also offers a wide variety of off campus learning experiences. It's worth a good hard look if you're considering something in liberal arts.
4) Westmont College (Santa Barbara California) - Westmont has ranked in the top 100 Liberal Arts colleges for 5 years running and has a 12:1 student faculty ratio with an average class size of 18 students. Westmont focuses on Christ and students volunteering to help the community. 95% of graduates from Westmont find work, internships, or attend graduate school within 18 months of graduating. With this colleges stats and focus on undergraduate students, and the beautiful location it sits in, it's worth a close look.
For now I hope I've given you a starting place when looking into online Christian colleges or brick and mortar colleges. Of course some of the online colleges listed offer brick and mortar classes and some of the location colleges listed offer online courses and degrees. Do some research and think about what you want out of your Christian education, what you want to do when you're done, and where you want to study, as well as what kind of financial aid you can get from these schools.
